Given the current depression of the global economy, questions have been raised on what the consequences will be for the wellbeing on people all around the world. Of particular concern are the effects of this recession on developing countries, and whether the progress towards the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals will be slowed down, stalled or even reversed (UN, 2009).
